Recalled by Del Monte Research Center - Walnut Creek

Classification

Class II — Products that might cause a temporary health problem, or pose only a slight threat of a serious nature.

Reason for Recall

Between September 7 thru September 29, 2016, consumer complaints led firm to believe that cans of Lite Sliced Peaches were mislabeled as they appeared to contain Fruit Cocktail in Heavy Syrup. The label on the can states Lite Sliced Peaches (Yellow cling peach in Extra Light Syrup) and the product inside contains Fruit Cocktail in Heavy Syrup. Fruit Cocktail contains cherries colored with carmine. FDA regulations requires carmine to be labeled due to its potential allergen status (21 CFR 73.100 (d)(2)).
